PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Ausben "Legendary King Aus" StrongHeart is an internationally recognized artist-scholar, educator, choreographer, performer, and cultural preservationist whose work spans performance, research, education, and community engagement. For more than twenty years, he has taught, performed, judged, and lectured throughout all 50 United States and over 59 countries worldwide.
A Broadway performer and founder of the University of W💜ACKING and the Imperial House of Waacking (I.H.O.W.), StrongHeart is known for his contributions to the preservation, documentation, and advancement of Punking, Posing, Whacking, and W💜ACKING culture. His research explores cultural identity, performance, improvisation, and the transmission of embodied knowledge through street, club, theatrical, and vernacular dance forms.
His professional credits include Broadway's Tarzan, HBO Max's Legendary, Step Up 3D, Live to Dance, Eurovision, Lincoln Center, Dance Theatre of Harlem productions, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, BAMF Canada, Culturehuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm, and international touring productions throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. He has also collaborated with Indigenous music group A Tribe Called Red and performed in works ranging from musical theatre and contemporary dance to street and club dance forms.
As an educator and guest artist, StrongHeart has taught and lectured at institutions including New York University, Boston Conservatory, Stockholm University, the Ballet Academy of Sweden, Stephens College, the University of Texas at Arlington, USC Online, and numerous international festivals and cultural institutions. His teaching and creative practice encompass W💜ACKING, Jazz Dance, Musical Theatre, Popping, Vogue Performance, Freestyle Improvisation, Dance History, and Choreographic Studies.
An enrolled member of the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, StrongHeart's work is rooted in cultural preservation, leadership development, and artistic innovation. His current projects include The Book of W💜ACKING, research on the global evolution of street and club dance culture, and the continued development of the University of W💜ACKING as an international platform for education, scholarship, and cultural preservation.
