ABOUT LEGENDARY KING AUS
Legendary King Aus is an internationally recognized performing artist, choreographer, dance educator, judge, artist-scholar, and cultural preservationist whose career bridges Broadway, musical theatre, street and club dance, commercial entertainment, battle culture, and arts education.
For more than two decades, Aus has performed, taught, choreographed, judged, and lectured throughout the United States and more than 60 countries worldwide. His multidisciplinary career has allowed him to move between spaces that are often treated as separate—from Broadway stages and international theatres to underground clubs, dance battles, universities, television, festivals, and classrooms.
A graduate of Point Park University with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in Dance, Aus developed as a multidisciplinary performer through acting, singing, jazz, tap, musical theatre, contemporary dance, and vernacular forms before expanding deeply into American street and club dance.
His professional credits include Broadway’s Tarzan, Bojangles the Dance Musical, HBO Max’s Legendary, Step Up 3D, Live to Dance, Eurovision, Lincoln Center, and international theatrical and dance productions throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. His career has also included work across musical theatre, contemporary performance, commercial dance, television, and live entertainment.
New York City's club and street-dance communities became a defining part of Aus's artistic development.
His movement practice encompasses Punking, Posing, Whacking, W💜ACKING, Vogue, House, Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, Jazz, Musical Theatre, freestyle, and improvisation.
His artistic lineage includes direct study and mentorship with influential figures from multiple generations of American street and club dance, including Tyrone “The Bone” Proctor, Brian “Footwork” Green, Shabba-Doo, and Willi Ninja, alongside relationships and exchanges with numerous artists who shaped New York's underground dance community.
Aus became a member of the House of Ninja during the 2000s and later became internationally recognized as a performer, teacher, competitor, and judge within W💜ACKING and the broader street-dance community.
His approach to dance reflects both preservation and evolution. Rather than treating street and club forms as frozen vocabularies, Aus studies how movement, music, identity, theatricality, improvisation, social environments, and individual artists continuously shape dance culture.
Education has become one of the central pillars of Aus's career.
His teaching combines the knowledge transmission traditions of street and club culture with structured performing-arts pedagogy. His work encompasses W💜ACKING, Popping, House, Hip Hop, Soul Dance, Jazz Dance, Musical Theatre, Vogue Performance, freestyle improvisation, musicality, character development, choreography, battle studies, dance history, and educator development.
Throughout his career, he has worked with dancers ranging from beginners to professional performers, educators, choreographers, and competitive street dancers while teaching through universities, studios, festivals, cultural institutions, and independent programs internationally.
Aus approaches the classroom with the same philosophy he brings to performance: technique provides the tools, history provides the context, and individuality transforms those tools into artistry.
Aus is the Founder and Artistic Director of the University of W💜ACKING, an international performing-arts education institution dedicated to the study, preservation, pedagogy, performance, and continued evolution of Punking, Posing, Whacking, and W💜ACKING.
He is the creator of the A.U.S. Method — Art Unifies Soul and the 10 Elements of W💜ACKING, educational systems developed from decades of performance, teaching, research, mentorship, and movement analysis.
He also co-founded the Imperial House of Waacking (I.H.O.W.) in New York with his mentor Tyrone “The Bone” Proctor, creating an international community that became part of the expansion of W💜ACKING across national borders.
His current scholarship includes The Book of W💜ACK, an extensive research and educational project examining movement vocabulary, pedagogy, history, performance, lineage, cultural transmission, and the international evolution of W💜ACKING and related street and club-dance traditions.
The University of W💜ACKING, his publications, teaching, and continued performance work, Aus is building an interconnected platform for performing arts, education, documentation, research, and cultural preservation.
Aus's understanding of cultural preservation also extends beyond dance. As an enrolled member of the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas, his developing work in cultural research and preservation informs a broader understanding of oral history, community knowledge, identity, lineage, and the responsibility of documenting traditions for future generations.
Across his career—from Broadway to the battle floor, from underground clubs to international classrooms—Legendary King Aus has built his work around a central belief:
Art Unifies Soul.
His continuing mission is to perform, preserve, educate, document, and create—while helping the next generation understand not only how to move, but where the movement comes from and how they can carry it forward.
